In Season 2 of Tyler Perry's "Beauty in Black," power dynamics are shifting, but can the underdog maintain her new empire?
The Netflix drama series is set to return on the streaming platform this week. The show's return comes after fans were demanding new episodes following the conclusion of Season 1.
“We left fans on the edge of their seats at the end of Season 1, and we’re thrilled to continue Kimmie’s journey as she steps into her power as the newest member of the Bellarie family,” Perry told Tudum in August.
Here's what we know about "Beauty in Black" Season 2.
When will 'Beauty in Black" Season 2 be released?
Similar to the first season, Season 2 will be released in two parts. Part 1 will consist of eight episodes and be available on Netflix at midnight PT/3 a.m. ET on Thursday, Sept. 11, Netflix said.

What should fans expect from 'Beauty in Black' Season 2?
In Season 1, viewers met exotic dancer Kimmie, a victim of abuse and an underground human trafficking operation, as her life deeply intersects with the Bellaires — a wealthy, powerful family running a successful hair care business in Chicago.
A revelation in the first season came when Horace Bellaire revealed that he had prostate cancer. During Episode 3 of Season 1, he called his cancer diagnosis karma since his family sells lye hair relaxers, which he says “is killing women" due to its chemicals.
In the finale, Horace married Kimmie, the only person he trusts. It is part of his plan to leave her his inheritance, which shocks his family and employees.
According to Netflix's logline for Season 2, Kimmie "becomes an unstoppable force and is now the one calling the shots." In the trailer for the upcoming season, Kimmie expressed her reservations about running a business to Horace.
"You're smart, ruthless, and calculated,” Horace says to her. “That's why I chose you."
