ALLEN PARK -- Jameson Williams has come a long way through his first three years with the Detroit Lions.

And the franchise rewarded him for that growth, not to mention for the ultra-high ceiling they believe the electric wide receiver possesses. The Lions and Williams agreed to a three-year contract extension that will keep the receiver in Detroit through 2029.

Dan Campbell said the Lions had hoped to take care of Williams’ extension much sooner than the eve of Week 1. But the coach is happy to get the business side out of the way and to have one of his top playmakers rewarded and locked in for the future.

“Glad to get it done, Jamo’s come a long way,” Campbell said. “And we expect a lot more out of him, too. It’s good.”
