Birmingham City boss Chris Davies has registered a 24-man squad with the EFL and opted to leave out injured duo Lee Buchanan and Scott Wright.

Buchanan and Wright are both on the sidelines with long-term knee injuries and Davies expects neither to be match-fit before the end of the year, hence why he has excluded them from Blues' squad for the first half of the season.

Championship clubs are allowed to keep 25-man squads that must include at least eight homegrown players.

Blues have named 15 homegrown players, including Austrian defender Christoph Klarer who qualifies through spending a large part of his development in Southampton's academy.

By only naming 24 players, Davies has left himself wriggle room to add a free agent to his squad in case of an emergency.
