DE SOTO — A 50-year-old man walking on Highway 21 was killed when he was struck by a truck Tuesday morning, authorities said.

The regional medical examiner's office said the victim was Benjamin T. Bourbon of the 1200 block of Bourbon Street near De Soto. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Missouri Highway Patrol said the truck, driven by a 25-year-old man from the Hillsboro area, was southbound when it hit the pedestrian north of Amvets Drive near De Soto High School. The patrol said the pedestrian wasn't visible to the driver.

The accident occurred about 5:25 a.m., the patrol said.
