NEW YORK (PIX11) – Charlie Kirk, the conservative media personality and founder of Turning Point USA, was shot in Orem, Utah, on Wednesday afternoon.

In a statement released shortly after 1:15 p.m. MT, Utah Valley University said a shot was fired at Kirk and he was hit. Kirk was then “taken from the location by his security.”

“He was hit and taken from the location by his security. Campus police is investigating, a suspect is in custody,” the statement added.

Kirk is well known for his media appearances and writing, which have been featured in various major outlets. He has appeared in The Washington Post, The Hill, Fox News, Newsweek, and was even recognized on Forbes’ “30 Under 30,” according to the Turning Point website.
