A “massive” blaze is raging in Glasgow’s east end as residents report “explosions” and an “acrid taste” in the air.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed ten appliances have been scrambled to the blaze at a recycling plant on London Road, Helenslea.
Police warned local residents to keep doors and windows closed. The Fire Service was called at around 7.20pm this evening (Wednesday, September 10).
Glasgow Live understands London Road is currently closed. Footage from the scene shows orange flames leaping from the recycling plant as thick smoke billows from the scene.
“There is a massive fire at a recycling plant in the east end of Glasgow,” local resident Colin Harkins told Glasgow Live. “There is also an acrid taste in the air.”
