ATLANTA — Republican Ken Yasger, a Georgia Army National Guard sergeant and Afghanistan veteran, has entered the 2026 race for governor. The Savannah longshot is pitching himself as a political outsider.

Yasger says his platform centers on eliminating the state income tax, suspending Georgia’s gas tax, and funding schools by capping administrative salaries while raising teacher pay. He has also voiced support for legalizing marijuana and gambling as revenue sources, and emphasized mental health programs to address gun violence.
