CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE — Cape May County’s Board of Commissioners on Tuesday held off on a $1.7 million plan for improvements at the Cape May County Zoo, seeking more details on the proposal.

“I’m sure it’s all worthwhile. It just seems like maybe a bit much to me,” Commissioner Bob Barr said.

He asked that the vote be delayed for two weeks to allow him time to visit the site and get a better understanding of the proposal.

Commissioner Will Morey asked for a more detailed presentation on the proposal and concurred with Barr’s request for a delay.

The rest of the five-member governing body agreed.

County Administrator Kevin Lare described the project as improvements to the entrance to the zoo, a popular attraction within the central Cape May County Park on Route 9 in Middle Township.
