The transportation minister believes it would be beneficial for Newfoundland and Labrador to hold a summit focused on addressing issues within the provincial ferry system.

Elvis Loveless recently attended the Made in Canada: Ferries and Rail Summit held in Ontario.

That event brought together governments and industry stakeholders to discuss a number of issues.

The event was of particular interest for this province, given a myriad of issues within the current system and the reality that four vessels are nearing 40 years in service.
