SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. —

From its soothing scent to its medicinal properties, for thousands of years, people across the globe have used lavender.

In Simpsonville, Little Mount Lavender , a small shop and cafe, has pushed the limits of what you can do with the versatile herb.

Married couple Jason Walker-Woodlief and Jason Woodlief own the shop, and according to Jason Woodlief, the plant's growing season is not a long one.

"The blooming season for a plant like lavender is actually very short," Woodlief said. "It goes from mid to late June through about mid to late July. Lavender is not a huge blooming flower to begin with, so it's kind of delicate."

According to Jason Woodlief, at Little Mount Lavender, everything they sell contains at least a hint of lavender.
