KENTUCKY (WKYT) - Kentucky leaders are reacting to the death of political activist Charlie Kirk .

Kirk was shot in the neck at an event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. President Trump posted on Truth Social that Kirk has died.

“No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!” Trump said.

Representative Andy Barr posted on social media, before the news of Kirk’s death, that he is “horrified” by the attack and asks that all Kentuckians and Americans pray for Kirk and his family.
