After months in a state of limbo, Market Basket's board made the move to fire suspended CEO Arthur T. Demoulas — prompting questions about what comes next for the storied New England grocery store chain.

Demoulas has contested his termination — and the board has already filed a complaint in a Delaware court detailing their allegations against Demoulas and rationale for firing him.

"Mr. Demoulas' conduct has been at all relevant times contrary to the best interests of Market Basket and all its constituents, and is directly only at preserving his own power," the complaint said. "That is not how the leader — the President and CEO — of an iconic company like Market Basket is supposed to or required to act."
