ROCKY MOUNT, Va. (WDBJ) - On Tuesday night, Franklin County’s Planning Commission tabled a vote on a proposal to build a solar farm along Route 220 south of Rocky Mount following a public hearing.
People in Franklin County have been voicing their opposition to the project and another proposed solar farm in the county, citing several concerns.
“There were five people who spoke against the project. Some of their concerns were property values, runoff of what runoff the panels, and what leaks into the ground. Could the panels contaminate the stream? There were some concerns about the sounds, would the panels and the inverters make noise that the neighbors could hear?” said Franklin County Director of Planning Lisa Cooper.
