Gov. Greg Gianforte signed an executive order Wednesday forming an energy task force to respond to the growing electricity demands in Montana.

The task force is slated to produce a written report with short- and long-term recommendations and strategies "for Montana to increase the supply of affordable and reliable energy options" by mid-September of next year. The task force will hold its first meeting on Sept. 22.

Gianforte's executive order championed an "all-of-the-above energy" strategy and "American-made energy." "All-of-the-above energy" is a platform often championed by Republicans who want to encourage domestic energy production by relying on nonrenewable resources like coal and natural gas, as well as renewable resources like solar and wind.
