The Congressional Medal of Honor Society (CMOH) is spotlighting Chattanooga history through the live reenactment of a historical heist.

In partnership with the National Railroad company, CSX, and Chattanooga’s own Coolidge National Medal of Honor Heritage Center (MOHHC), CMOH plans to celebrate its annual ceremony with a reenactment of The Great Locomotive Chase.

Also known as “Andrew’s Raid,” the historic heist took place in 1862 when a Union scout, James J. Andrews, took 22 Union volunteers and one brave civilian with him to steal a train.

Their goal was to sabotage Confederate Supply lines by taking the steam engine called General North towards Chattanooga, disrupting communication and railroad function for the Confederacy.
