Jennifer-Ruth Green, Indiana's former secretary of public safety, confirmed she resigned from her $275,000 a year position in the cabinet of Republican Gov. Mike Braun — after less than seven months on the job — due to the current "environment" of state government.

The Crown Point resident, who also served as head of the Indiana Department of Homeland Security, issued a statement Wednesday in response to reporting by the Indiana Capital Chronicle that said Green was the subject of an inspector general's investigation into her alleged misuse of state resources and workplace misconduct.
