CLINTON, Tennessee — The Clinton Community Center bowling alley is going through a $400,000 renovation after the city set aside funds to have it redone.

It's the first time the bowling alley has been updated since it opened in the 1970s.

"This was an all original alley back in the 70s and it was manual scoring, it was an AMF system, we had to be very hands on to fix things, to maintain," said Taylor Cullison, Special events coordinator for the City of Clinton .

Cullison said after 50 years of strikes, splits and spares the alley was starting to wear down and making games difficult to play for bowlers.

"We feel that is like a hidden gem, like not many people know about the alley. A lot of our league bowlers do and we have quite a few regulars," she said. "It was just a lot to maint
