LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A team of six Kentucky telecommunicators is receiving special recognition for their service in Asheville, North Carolina, following Hurricane Helene.

The team was deployed to Ashville in 2024 to help a storm-stricken 911 center.

According to a news release, for two weeks, they provided critical support in Buncombe County’s 911 center—handling emergency calls, assisting with dispatch operations and offering much-needed relief to local personnel.

Of the six, two were from Louisville: Justin Bagby, MetroSafe supervisor and Kimberly Sweazy, 911 dispatcher.
