Politicians in Massachusetts and New England condemned the fatal shooting of conservative activist and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk at an event in Utah on Wednesday.

Kirk was killed in the middle of an event at Utah Valley University in Orem. Authorities were searching for the shooter — authorities didn't immediately release any details about who, if anyone, they suspect was responsible.

Kirk was a major figure in Republican politics, and the Massachusetts Republican Party shared a statement saying that Kirk will be missed.
