A first-time summer fundraising drive in support of the Salvation Army Okanagan has raised more than $100,000 for kids and youth programs.

The campaign, launched on Canada Day, needed just 60 days to surpass the $100,000 target by more than $4,000.

“We are incredibly grateful to our community for stepping up in such a powerful way,” Lenetta Parry, a Sally Ann manager, said in a release. “This generosity ensures children will have access to the opportunities they deserve, all year long.”

Every dollar raised will go toward sports such as swimming lessons, tutoring, cooking classes, art programs, and tutoring, among other programs. “We’re not just funding programs, we are building futures,” said Sally Ann Capt. Jennifer Henson.
