STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) -- A woman was arrested Tuesday after allegedly striking a pedestrian while driving under the influence, the Stafford County Sheriff's Office detailed.

Shortly before 1 a.m., deputies found a man lying on Garrisonville Road with a car being located less than 20 yards away on Salisburg Drive with visible damage consistent with a crash, including a handprint on the hood of the vehicle.

According to deputies, the victim was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Deputies say, when confronted, the driver changed her story multiple times before eventually apologizing for "being drunk," with deputies noting the woman showed visible signs of intoxication.
