CONNECTICUT (WTNH) — Connecticut has received upgrades from two major ratings agencies, Gov. Ned Lamont and State Treasurer Erick Russell announced on Wednesday.
Both Fitch and Moody's gave Connecticut a boost, meaning the state is now more favorable when it goes to borrow money for projects, such as school construction and transportation infrastructure.
Moody's credited the state's system of budgetary controls for creating surpluses and helping to address Connecticut's historically underfunded pensions.
"We've made incredible progress in terms of economic growth and we're making incredible progress in terms of dealing with our unfunded pension liabilities and that's been recognized by Fitch, that's been recognized by Moody's," Lamont said.
