VALPARAISO — The East Porter County School Board voted Monday night to censure board member Natalie Bowersock, who filed a lawsuit against the district last month.

The censure resolution, which was approved by board members 6 to 0, claimed Bowersock had violated board bylaws by overstepping her role as a board member, making unsubstantiated allegations and personal attacks against staff and administrators and discussing school board matters in public settings and on social media.

Bowersock was not present at the meeting.

Board member Audrey Starr said Bowersock's recent actions had been disruptive to the collaborative spirit of the board and had consumed valuable resources from students and staff.
