A pilot scheme to help vulnerable people is working to drive down calls to social services and police in Stockton, councillors have heard.
The PiTstop (Partnership Integrated Triage) pilot has been running in Stockton since March last year. The police-chaired scheme is described as a "safe haven" which aims to intervene early and help vulnerable children, young people and adults.
It is meant to find "hidden victims", support families and prevent harm and risks by sharing information with other agencies in social care, safeguarding, health, education, housing, youth justice and organisations like treatment provider Change Grow Live and domestic abuse charity Harbour. It is also meant to reduce demand on the Children's Hub, the front door of social services.
