The suspected killer of political activist Charlie Kirk has been apprehended and is now in custody.

At 6:21 p.m. EST on Wednesday, FBI Director Kash Patel announced that the suspected shooter of Charlie Kirk is now in custody. The name and age of the suspect have not been released.

In a press conference, Utah Governor Spencer Cox stated it was “a political assassination”, per Brian Entin of NewsNation.

Cox also reminded the public that the state still carries the death penalty.

The 31-year-old Charlie Kirk was hosting a public event at Utah Valley University when he was shot in the neck. Multiple videos surfaced of the horrible shooting taking place while Kirk was speaking.
