PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – After casting a vote against party lines, a one-term Oregon state representative announced her decision on Tuesday to not seek re-election and is instead running for a county-level role.

In an Instagram post announcing her move -- Oregon State Representative Annessa Hartman (D-40) explained, “I was never built for party lines, for colors that demand loyalty before compassion, for rooms where power speaks louder than people. I was built for unspoken moments, late-night phone calls from neighbors in crisis, tears shed in empty hallways and long drives, the stubborn hope that listening still matters.”
