MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WSAZ) - West Virginia wasn’t necessarily in the plan for Michael Benson, West Virginia University’s new president.

But Benson said sometimes life has a way of putting you exactly where you should be.

And when the job opened up, he said it’s an opportunity he simply couldn’t pass.

Now, a couple months into Benson’s tenure, WSAZ’s Taylor Eaton sat down with him to talk about the future for the Mountaineers.

President Benson said the university just welcomed its biggest freshman class in a few years, and he feels that’s just the start.
