BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The Mission at Kern County's 13,000-square-foot kitchen and transitional housing facility broke ground on Wednesday morning.
The facility broke ground at 9 a.m. on Wednesday at 821 E. 21st St., Bakersfield, according to organizers.
“This has been many, many years in the making and now we get to see the vision come through and we’re super, super excited,” said Carlos Baldovinos, the executive director at The Mission at Kern County.
The facility is slated to provide seating for up to 180 people during mealtimes, as well as a state-of-the-art vocational center with 13 computer workstations, The Mission said.
The workstations will allow homeless and low-income individuals to create resumes, learn essential computer skills and apply for jobs and housing, accord
