As the Sage Mesa water system heads to its second, and likely highly heated, information session on a potential takeover, the B.C. government has not made any public moves to support residents on the system the province was responsible for.

The next information session starts at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 10) at the West Bench Elementary School gymnasium just outside Penticton.

The provincial government took over the water system in 1990 due to mismanagement, but only assumed its management, with the actual assets and water rights remaining privately held by its original owners. The Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen (RDOS) was eventually contracted by the province to handle day-to-day operations.
