Lamport Memorial Garden, parkland adjacent to the Vittoria Old Town Hall, is headed for sale to a local non-profit.

At a council-in-committee meeting on Tuesday, councillors agreed to release a Request for Information document for non-profit organizations willing to purchase the park for $1. A final vote on the issue will be taken at a council meeting later this month.

It follows council’s decision in June to offer for sale on the open market the historic but deteriorating Vittoria Old Town Hall.

The Lamport Park property, located at 1538 Old Brock St. in Vittoria, was donated in 1962 by the Lamport family to the former trustees of the “Police Village of Vittoria,” now Norfolk County, in memory of William A. Lamport.
