PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - A federal grant supporting services for children in Oregon who are deafblind could be cancelled. Grant writers are rushing to appeal the decision, and families are trying to cope with this loss of support.

“The DeafBlind Project was first introduced to me when my daughter was really young and I was a single mom. It really has been so life-changing and such a blessing for us,” said Adura Lyndon, the mother of a child with deafblindness.

The Oregon DeafBlind Project provides technical assistance and training to support more than 100 deafblind youth across the state.

Lyndon shares her disappointment in hearing about the grant discontinuation.
