SCHENECTADY — Over the past two decades, thousands of new homes and apartment units have cropped up throughout Schenectady, outpacing neighboring Capital Region communities.

The Schenectady County Metroplex Development Authority alone has supported dozens of projects, resulting in nearly 3,000 new living units throughout Schenectady County since 2012, with a bulk coming online in the Electric City since that time. Another 927 units are currently under development across the county, according to data provided by the development authority.
