LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - A man is being held at Webb County Jail on a $10,000 bond for allegedly attacking a dog with a machete after police received a call about dogs fighting in the neighborhood.

Police say that on Tuesday morning, September 9, they received a call about multiple dogs fighting each other. Shortly after, the same caller told officers that a man, later identified as 32-year-old Andres Freeman, started attacking one of the dogs with a machete.

The department states that it remains unclear why Freeman attacked the dog, and the investigation is still ongoing. According to Joe Baeza with Laredo Police, “For now, it’s very preliminary, but for whatever reason, he decided to do it, he went ahead and he, in a very cold manner, wound up attacking an animal.”
