Minnesota Wild general manager Bill Guerin found himself trying to put out a public relations fire Wednesday night as he responded to a report from earlier in the day that suggested superstar forward Kirill Kaprizov turned down a contract offer from the Wild that would've made him the highest-paid player in NHL history.

"I don't know where this stuff comes from. My role as general manager is to protect our players. I know two things: That info didn’t come from us and it didn’t come from Kirill’s agent. I don’t know where it came from," Guerin told 10,000 Takes.
