TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — A former Turning Point intern and the former ASU College Republicans president remembered on Wednesday the life and legacy of Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated on Wednesday at a college campus in Utah .

Carson Carpenter was inspired by Kirk to stay active in conservative politics, and he admired how Kirk traveled to college campuses across the country to engage young voters and debate people with opposing views.

He graduated just a few months ago. He said he’s met Kirk five times since they first connected at a political event in 2021.

In September of last year, he said ASU’s College Republicans hosted Kirk on campus before Election Day in an event very similar to the one held Wednesday in Utah. Carpenter was in the tent with Kirk that day last year and got to
