Almost halfway through the Region 9 girls volleyball schedule, Desert Hills remains the top dog.

The defending region champions swept Crimson Cliffs 3-0 in the Thunderdome on Tuesday night, showing a powerful attack with a deep rotation of strong outside hitters.

The Thunder are 10-4 overall and are off to a 5-0 start in Region 9 play. Desert Hills was a 4A state semifinalist last year after winning their eighth region championship in the last 11 seasons.

“That’s their number one goal, every year,” head coach Craig Allred, in his fifth season on the bench at Desert Hills, told St. George News after the sweep over Crimson Cliffs.

“Before they talk about anything else, it’s important for these girls; they really do want to go after that region championship,” Allred said.
