Police have arrested a 27-year-old man following an investigation into fraudulent activity involving counterfeit money in Hervey Bay.
On 2 September it is alleged the man used a counterfeit 50 dollar note to purchase alcohol from a hotel in Scarness.
It is alleged the man then returned to the same hotel on 3 September and again used a counterfeit 50 dollar note to purchase goods.
On 4 September, the man visited a hotel in Craignish where it is alleged, he used counterfeit 50-dollar notes to purchase cigarettes and play gaming machines.
Officers from Hervey Bay’s Criminal Investigation Branch executed a search warrant at a Pulgul Street property in Urangan on 10 September where they allegedly discovered $8860 worth of counterfeit notes in 20, 50 and 100 dollar bills, along with an amoun
