The Florida International University's chapter of Turning Point USA is reacting to conservative activist Charlie Kirk's assassination at an event on a college campus on Wednesday.
Kirk was the founder of the conservative nonprofit organization that focuses on holding events and debates geared towards conservative values at high schools and college campuses.
"They notified me about what happened, and I was in class. I was about to cry," said Ian Valdes, the president of FIU's chapter. "I was devastated to hear this news, and I had to step out. I was about to cry. Very challenging for me to hear."
Kirk rose from a teenage conservative campus activist to a top podcaster, culture warrior and ally of President Donald Trump.
