WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Following the shooting on Wednesday that led to the death of conversative activist Charlie Kirk, local experts are urging people not to raise the temperature on social media.
Dr. Larry Straub is a business and economics expert. He hopes this shooting will become what he calls a “pain point,” meaning an event that brings people with opposing viewpoints together to stop the violence.
Straub says that 9/11 was the last event in his memory that worked like this, but says that even with tragedies like the Sandy Hook shooting, people have only responded angrily towards the opposing party.
