AMHERST — Besieged guidance counselor Delinda Dykes has waged her own attack on the district that has refused to let her back on campus, flouting rulings by an arbitrator and a judge who found she’s entitled to return to work .
Dykes was fired in 2023 as a counselor at Amherst Regional Middle School amid allegations that she disparaged and deliberately misgendered trans students.
Dykes and the district remain in a tug-of-war about the issue, filing dueling motions on Sept. 5 — primarily with the district insisting the guidance counselor’s presence would be a detriment to students, and the plaintiff arguing she had been unfairly persecuted.
