DES MOINES, Iowa -- Charlie Kirk, a conservative activist, was shot and killed Wednesday afternoon during an event at Utah Valley University.

Tom Conley, the president and CEO of The Conley Group, a private security company, said that the event today did not have adequate security.

"Adequate security means equilibrium between the amount of security assets needed to reduce the risk to an, to an acceptable level. Charlie Kirk had, I think two or three, maybe six of his security people. I heard the UVU chief say that they had six police officers, wholly inadequate, just wholly inadequate," Conley said.

Conley said that people often don't take security seriously enough.

"The big problem is that people don't take their security seriously. So, security is always too much until that moment. I
