LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
A Louisville nonprofit is honoring the work of an LMPD detective who lost her battle with cancer.
On Wednesday, the Family & Children's Place named the wing of its Child Advocacy Center after Detective Michelle Rusch.
The center provides support and resources to children who are abused or neglected.
Detective Rusch worked closely with the center as part of her job in the Crimes Against Children's Unit.
At the dedication, Detective Lorin Payne said, “From this day forward, every person who passes by this building or walks through its doors will see her name.”
She said, “Michelle devoted her life to protecting the innocent and shielding the vulnerable from the darkness. Her legacy will forever be the light that guides us forward.”
Detective Rusch passed away in June.
