COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Firefighters with the Colorado Springs Fire Department went out of their way to help out a dog involved in a crash Wednesday morning.

The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) said the dog Gray was involved in a car crash right in front of Station Six, north of the Patty Jewett Golf Course.

Both of Gray’s parents were taken to a hospital for minor injuries, but unable to ride in the ambulance, CSFD said Gray stayed behind.

Firefighters said the crew at Station Six took Gray back with them to take a tour of the fire station until some of his family members could pick him up.

“Firefighters don’t just answer calls — they lend a hand (and a few scratches behind the ear) when it’s needed most," the Colorado Springs Fire Department said.
