MSPs will vote next week on a bill to abolish the verdict - which gives juries a third option instead of guilty or not guilty and is the only one of its type in the world. ‌

Campaigners claim not proven is confusing and gives juries a “get out”, letting the guilty go free. ‌

Families of victims denied justice under the verdict have demanded rapid action to ditch it.
