The increase was met with pushback during public comment in the board meeting Wednesday.
"People are on a fixed income, it's difficult," Resident George Sellery said.
With the county having recently passed a gas tax increase and a utility tax increase, Sellery was opposed to an increase in his property tax.
"Hopefully, we can convince them to bring the rate down and give taxpayers a break," He said. "They raised gas taxes last month by five cents, the maximum for 50 years, and they raised the utility tax, which we pay on electric
