CARMEL -- In late January of 2024, then-Carmel Town Manager Kevin Howell died saving his son after they both fell through the ice on Etna Pond. On Wednesday, the town renamed and dedicated a bridge in his honor.
Family, friends, and others gathered for the dedication. Kevin's son, Sawyer, cut the ribbon at the ceremony honoring his father.
Howell would have celebrated his 53rd birthday on Wednesday.
Those who knew Kevin Howell say he contributed his time generously at both the state and local levels, including spearheading the beloved Carmel Days celebration and so much more.
"He was the CEO and planning board director, and wore many hats and did it so efficiently, and was a friend and helped out people in the community above and beyond what he needed to do as town manager," said Rep.
