It’s been a long two years since the landmark Panda Inn closed for remodeling — and the end result is more than amazing . This is a restaurant worthy of founding chef Ming-Tsai Cherng’s time spent at the hilltop Grand Hotel in Taipei, Taiwan, which is far more a palace, than a place to hang your toothbrush.

The Pasadena Panda Inn is the first of the American restaurants opened by Ming-Tsai and his son Andrew . There are other Panda Inns, in Glendale, Ontario and La Palma. But for most true believers, it’s the shopping center based Panda Express locations they know; there are more than 2,300 worldwide.
