Sophia Gourley had 16 kills as the Columbia River volleyball team opened yet another state title defense with a three-set win over Skyview on Wednesday.
The set scores were 25-13, 26-24 and 25-11.
Gourley earned all-state honors last season, helping the Rapids to their fourth consecutive Class 2A state championship. The junior also had four aces and three blocks on Wednesday.
Addie Cameron had 10 kills and seven digs for Columbia River. Avery Seley had 19 assists and Grace Sheron had five blocks.
Aubrie Bergeron led Skyview with seven kills and five blocks.

Gracie Peterson, Heritage/Mountain View slowpitch softball, went 3 for 4 with a triple, double and five runs scored in a 24-5 win over Prairie.
