Two Birmingham men are now charged in the assault of a well-known Montgomery businessman who was bound, beaten, and robbed in a holdup at his dry-cleaning business earlier this year.

Spirit Hooks, 51, and Clinton Thompson, 55, are the third and fourth suspects charged in the March 10, 2025, assault and robbery at Jim Massey Cleaners in Montgomery.

Additionally, 67-year-old Spencer “Dragon” Thomas, of Prattville, pleaded guilty to one count of Hobbs Act Robbery, said Middle District of Alabama Acting U.S. Attorney Kevin Davidson said Wednesday.

Zedekia Sykes, 58, previously pleaded guilty to the same crime.

The conviction carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. Sentencing dates have not yet been announced.
