One of the then teenage girls who was sexually assaulted by a North-West man felt ashamed and remains "seriously traumatised" by the abuse, a court has heard.

James David Perry was sentenced in the Supreme Court on Wednesday, September 11, after he was found guilty by a jury of sexually abusing two teenage girls.

Following a trial earlier this year, Perry was found guilty of five counts of penetrative sexual abuse of a young person.

He was found not guilty of eight counts of rape, but on three of the counts, he was found guilty of alternative charges of penetrative sexual abuse of a young person.

The offences occurred in 2018 and 2019 when Perry was aged 19 and 20.
